Transport Assessments
The Rare Spark team has worked on a number of Transport Assessments (TA) for a variety of different organisations. As an appraisal of a proposed development, each TA is different. The findings of the TA are submitted to the Local Authority as part of a Planning Application.
A Transport Assessment (TA) may be requested by a Local Authority to assess a development's compatibility with the relevant planning policy framework and in particular, the relevant transport strategy.
The TA allows the transport implications of proposed developments to be properly considered and, where appropriate, will help identify suitable measures to achieve a more sustainable and environmentally sound outcome. A TA can also address issues likely to be of concern to the local traffic authority in performing their network management duties.
There are a number of factors which may be considered as part of the TA:
- Encouraging environmental sustainability.
- Reducing the need to travel, especially by car.
- Tackling the environmental impact of travel
- The accessibility of the location
- Making best possible use of existing transport infrastructure
- Managing access to the highway network
- Mitigating residual impacts
